Authorities say they have identified a "subject of interest" after a 37-year-old woman told police she was raped by a hitchhiker in Northern Michigan.
Police say the woman allowed the stranger into her pick-up truck at about 1 a.m. Wednesday in Eveline Township. She told police the man raped her and stole her truck.
Authorities found the truck abandoned a short distance from where the unidentified woman made a 911 call. She was treated at hospital.
Police say the suspect also stole a second vehicle, which was located in Boyne City.
Charlevoix County Sheriff Don Schneider tells MLive.com (http://bit.ly/M9Gde6) the incident was isolated and saw no further public safety concern. He had issued a warning Wednesday against offering rides to strangers.
