SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Funeral arrangements have been announced for an 8-year-old Saginaw boy who died in a house fire.

Chakur Tolbert died after a fire ripped through his family's home on Cherry Street on Friday evening.

Family members say Chakur's 17-year-old brother was also inside the home when the fire broke out. He was not injured.

Neighbors say eight people lived inside of the home and six of them are children.

Fire officials say the fire started in the kitchen and spread to the second floor. That's where firefighters found the little boy.

Authorities say the boy's family is staying at a hotel provided by the Red Cross.

A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, located on Johnson Street.
