ALLEGAN, Mich. (AP) - Consumers Energy says about 45,000 of its customers statewide are without electrical service following severe thunderstorms that moved across Michigan.
The subsidiary of CMS Energy Corp. says the west side of the state was hit the hardest, with nearly 12,000 of homes and businesses out in Allegan County on Tuesday morning.
Locally, Saginaw County has more than 400 customers without power. Genesee County is next with about 380 powerless.
Isabella County reports more than 200 customers are without power and Midland has about 160 in the dark.
The utility say crews are assessing the damage and hope to have most of those without power back in service by day's end.
DTE Energy Co. says Tuesday morning it had no major outages to report.
