FLINT, MI -
The Flint detective bureau announced Wednesday that in less than one month, a newly formed team of State Police and Flint detectives have solved at least four homicides and three shootings with multiple victims.
Authorities said the arrests have resulted in four counts of open murder and eleven counts of assault with intent to murder charges against several people.
The team said that investigators have also made arrests for home invasion, kidnapping and armed robbery charges against several suspects. Some of these cases also have charges filed against the individuals for being a felon in possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.
It was on July 2 that the Michigan State Police and Flint Police Department announced the Major Case Detective Bureau to focus on investigating violent crime in Flint. MSP detectives have effectively doubled the number of officers investigating crime in the city, and they are funded as part of the Secure Cities Partnership, one initiative of Gov. Rick Snyder's recently unveiled public safety plan.
