Randy Jackson (R) and his attorney
SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -
Buena Vista School District Board of Education President Randy Jackson has been sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to child abuse in June.
Prosecutors initially charged Jackson, 27, with abusing an 11-year-old child Sept. 23 at his home at 1710 Joy in Buena Vista.
Jackson accepted a plea agreement and pleaded guilty June 30 to a misdemeanor charge of fourth-degree child abuse. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dropped the original charge of third-degree child abuse.
On Friday, a Saginaw County district judge sentenced Jackson to nine months of supervised probation and fines.
Jackson could be subjected to 364 days in jail if he fails to comply during his probation.
