Week-long community cleanup begins

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

A local organization is reaching out to the community, starting with a week-long cleanup.

Volunteers grabbed their mowers as they helped Circle of Love give back. August is outreach month for the organization. The nonprofit helps families with housing, foreclosure and loans.

The cleanup runs from Aug. 6-10. Volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. at Circle of Love's office at 1809 Durand in Saginaw.

Executive Director Pam Brazil is trying to create awareness for the group. This annual event is just one way to reach out to the community.

Circle of Love has helped 200 to 300 people with foreclosure issues and counseled 50 first-time home buyers.

"We still get droves of people that are just finding out about our program and just finding out that they can get help," Brazil said.

The outreach program wraps up with a community block party at Circle of Love on Aug. 18 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
