Not the same patrol car involved in the crash.
ISABELLA COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -
An Isabella sheriff's deputy was involved in a two-car crash on Monday afternoon after a driver pulled out in front of him and caused a rollover accident.
The crash happened around 2:39 p.m. at the intersection of Isabella Road and Kay Street in Union Township, in Isabella County.
An Isabella County Sheriff Department deputy was traveling northbound in his patrol vehicle when a westbound vehicle pulled into his path causing a side impact collision.
Authorities said after reviewing the crash, it was determined the patrol vehicle had the right of way. The impact caused the westbound vehicle to roll onto its side.
Both drivers were injured in the crash and were taken to McLaren Central Michigan in Mt. Pleasant for treatment. The 16-year-old driver of the westbound vehicle was found to be at fault in the crash and police cited her.
Authorities said the driver of the patrol vehicle was Deputy Kevin Dush Sr., and the driver of the at fault vehicle is from Clare.
Investigators said Dush was not responding to a call at the time. The incident was captured by the in-car video of the patrol vehicle which showed the patrol vehicle was traveling more than 10 miles an hour below the posted speed limit prior to the crash.
WNEM TV5 is working to get the dashcam footage from the crash. We'll update this story when we do.
