GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -
Voters in three Mid-Michigan counties took to the polls Tuesday to decide whether they wanted a new sheriff in town.
In Genesee County, Democrat incumbent Robert Pickell will remain in office after beating out challengers Tim Johnson and Dan Allen.
The 70-year-old has no opponent in November. Pickell recorded 64 percent of the votes.
In Bay County, incumbent John E. Miller narrowly defeated retired deputy Robert Lee. Miller took the victory by a difference of only 235 votes. He will face off against Republican candidate Joshua Novak in the Nov. 6 general election.
And voters in Midland County voted to have Scott Stephenson become their next sheriff. He defeated Ken Mault, Myron Greene, David Thompson and Jim Chambers on Tuesday.
Stephenson is the only candidate on the general election ballot.
