MONTROSE TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

Troy Police have found the body and bicycle of missing 55-year-old Troy father, whose son remains jailed on charges relating to his death.

Troy Police Chief Gary Mayer tells the Detroit Free Press (http://on.freep.com/NspKN5) that Patrick Mikes' body and bicycle were located today in the same 25-square-mile area in Genesee County where police had been searching.

Mayer says the crime scene is located about fifteen feet inside a cornfield, above ground, in the Montrose area, northwest of Flint. Police believe the body was in the field since the day before he was reported missing.

Twenty-one-year-old Patrick Mikes Jr. was arraigned Thursday afternoon on an open murder charge and was ordered jailed until his next court hearing Aug. 27.

Authorities say they believe 55-year-old Patrick Mikes Sr. was killed in his Troy basement. His sons said he left on his bike July 27 when they reported him missing two days later.

Dozens of officers, K9 units and volunteers had been combing the area near McKinley and Lake roads last week and this week after receiving a tip from a resident. The search had extended through parts of Genesee County and southern Saginaw County.

Mikes Jr., 21, earlier was charged with using credit cards belonging to his 16-year-old brother.

Police say they have DNA blood evidence linking him in the case.
