Community to celebrate Claressa Shields' Olympic gold

Posted: Updated:

We have new details about the return of a mid-Michigan gold medalist.

Friends, family and Flint city officials are ready to welcome Olympic boxer Claressa Shields back home.

She's scheduled to arrive at Flint's Bishop International Airport just after 5 p.m. Monday.

We've also learned what's in the planning stages to celebrate her win in London.

Officials with Flint's annual "Back To The Bricks" event have invited Shields to be part of one night of the rolling cruise for a parade style event.

And we're told Flint Community Schools is putting together a recognition ceremony for her to happen in the next few weeks.
