
The Great Lakes Loons have dropped the opening game of a three-game set at Dow Diamond in Midland to the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 4-1.
Hot Rod pitcher Trevor Shull (5-6, 4.97 ERA) threw six innings while allowing only one unearned run in the victory.
Greg Wilborn (2-1, 3.74 ERA) started for the Loons, pitching six innings, allowing just one earned run but did not factor in the decision.
With the loss, the Loons fell eight games back of first-place Bowling Green, with a record of 23-28.
The teams will continue the series Thursday. It is Chemical Bank Dollar Family Feast night, in which hot dogs, ice cream sandwiches and 16-ounce soft drinks are all $1.
