FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

It definitely will be a head-turner: The bold, maize and blue shuttle bus will serve the University of Michigan-Flint and surrounding areas in the Vehicle City.

Thanks to the UM-Flint Student Government, the shuttle that serves the campus and surrounding area has that new look. However, what may not be widely known is that the route it travels is the MTA's Downtown/Campus Route 14. UM-Flint students, faculty and staff only have to show their MCard to get a free ride. For the general public, regular MTA rates apply.

The Mass Transportation Authority, working with the University of Michigan-Flint, created the route, which transports passengers daily 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The route makes a loop around the campus area every 15 minutes, with its first stop at the UM-Flint Theatre, then University Pavilion, Urban Health and Wellness, Lot S-Faculty/Staff Parking, the University of Michigan Recreation Center and the First Street Residence Hall.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the MTA vehicle makes an additional stop at the Flint Farmer's Market. In addition, passengers living in the East Court Village area are able to ride from campus from 6:30 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The route vehicle will provide hourly trips to that area at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 9:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m.
