Searching for the Powerball winner - WNEM TV 5

Search on for local $337M Powerball winner

LAPEER,MI (WNEM) -

It's a question that's being asked millions and millions and millions of times in Lapeer on Friday -- do you have that winning Powerball ticket?

"I've been asked a few times if I was the winner," said Janelle Jackson. "But I'm not."

Just by coincidence the Annual Lapeer Days Festival is going on through this weekend and as I asked folks if they were the lucky ticket holders, this was a pretty standard response.

"You know if I was, I don't know if I'd be standing here talking with you right now," said Susan Ranney.

Her husband was thinking along those same lines.

"I'd take the cash option and I'd be spending it tomorrow," said Bill Ranney.

The Sunoco station where the $337 million winning ticket was sold is getting back to normal, but yesterday neighbors had front row seats for the media mayhem.

"The gas station is basically across in my front yard," said Kristi Kigar. "So that's all we watched yesterday was all the news media and all the people coming forward. Trying to see if the winner was there."

So far we haven't seen hide nor hare of that winning multi-million dollar Powerball ticket, but here at Lapeer Days I talked to a lady who sure could use it.

"I wish. I could sure use it," said Penelope Gates. "I'm losing my house and I lost my job, so I could use it. I mean I've got no place to go, ha, ha, ha. If you know who it is send 'em my way. I could take a loan for just a little bit. Ha."
