The Great Lakes Loons stopped a three game skid by beating the Lansing Lugnuts in the 10th inning 9-8 on Thursday in front of a crowd of 5,215 at Dow Diamond in Midland.
With two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning, Joe Winker sliced a ground ball past the pitcher's mound that scored James Baldwin to lead the Loons to victory.
Daniel Carela (1-0, 0.00 ERA) pitched just one-third of an inning but picked up the win, striking out the lone batter he faced.
Four Loons hitters registered at least two hits apiece.
With the win, the Loons improved to 25-34, 11 games behind first-place Bowling Green in the Midwest League's Eastern Division.
The teams wrap up this three-game set Friday with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Friday's game is a Chemical Bank Raining Money night where contestants will have the opportunity to compete for $2,000 in cash following the game.
