BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -
It's kickoff weekend for high school football season across Mid-Michigan, and at one Friday night game, the opposing team will be seeing triple - as a set of triplets suit up to play ball.
Sometimes when coaches talk about a particular star player, they sometimes utter a line like, "I wish I could clone him so I could have more like him." And at Bay City All Saints Central High School, they don't have clones - they have three brothers.
"We refer to them as the Fulco Nation," said All Saints football coach Eric Gust.
Football players often refer to their teammates as brothers, but for Ernie, Robert and Frank Fulco, they're more than just teammates. And sometimes that alikeness the three display can cause confusion, on and off the football field.
"Even our mother sometimes confuses us and calls us different names," said Frank. The three boys all play in the offensive line, and admit that sometimes the boys use that confusion to their advantage off the field."We switch classes here and there, I'm good at math, he's (Robert) good at science." says Ernest.
All three are good at football and make up three-fifths of the Bay City All Saints offensive line.
The boys are hoping to lead All Saints to a successful season on the football field by using the bond they've built with each other and the rest of their teammates.
"I'm grateful for them," said Robert. "I'm grateful for having two brothers to grow up with and having somebody by you, no matter what. At the end, we come down to ‘blood is thicker than water' and we're going to be together forever. Just like this team. We're held together by a promise to come together as men and play a game and win."
