Patrick Mikes Sr.A judge has denied a request for a mental exam for a 22-year-old man accused of killing his father in the basement of their suburban Detroit home and dumping the body in a cornfield.
The Detroit News reports (http://bit.ly/OXzDoE) Troy District Judge William Bolle made the ruling Wednesday in the case of Patrick Mikes Jr. His lawyers asked for the exam.
Prosecutors say the son killed 55-year-old Patrick Mikes Sr. with multiple blows to the head. They say he then dropped the body in Genesee County's Montrose Township.
The son reported his father missing, saying he left their Troy home on his bike July 27.
Patrick Mikes Jr. is charged with an open count of murder. He's pleaded not guilty and remains jailed. A preliminary examination is Sept. 24.
