MOUNT PLEASANT, MI (WNEM) -
There is a new class that's hitting one local university.
Central Michigan University is now requiring this year's incoming freshmen class take a course in alcohol dangers.
This was prompted after the school released new tailgating rules that allow students who are of legal age to drink before each football game.
About 3,000 students are taking the free online class.
It's an effort to reduce alcohol poisoning and excessive drinking.
All freshman must complete the course before they can register for spring classes.
