FRANKENMUTH, MI (WNEM) -
Hundreds of classic cars and trucks will descend on Mid-Michigan's Little Bavaria this weekend for a huge annual event.
Some of the participants have already arrived in Frankenmuth in Saginaw County.
Ray Gardner loves his 1967 Chevy pickup truck. The Tennessee resident has come up for the past 20 years to be a part of the Frankenmuth Auto Fest.
"In fact, I used to live in Michigan, and at one time I used to plow snow and I had a '67 truck and I had to have another one," Gardner said, referring to his vehicle he brought up for the show.
People crazy about the classic cars will be able to see them for free during the block party Friday night on main street in downtown Frankenmuth. Organizers say the auto fest has something for everyone. "We have water ski shows, activities for the kids, its just going to be one good event after the other," said event organizer Tony D'Anna.
Although car owners come from all over the country for the show, everyone we talked with say about the same thing about being at this particular show.
"I love Frankenmuth, it's so friendly up here, they've got all the beautiful cars, and Friday night on the street I think is the best" said Glenda Marani of Southgate, MI.
As for Ray Gardner, we asked him how much longer he plans on coming to the show from the Volunteer state. He replied, "as long as I can walk."
