SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -
Saginaw Township Police officers were called to McCarty and Hackett roads Friday morning on a report of a 2-car crash.
When officers arrived at the scene around 9 a.m., they said the 81-year-old female driver of the vehicle that was northbound on Hackett Road had passed away due to injuries received in the accident.
Police said a 57-year-old female passenger in the same vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Covenant Hospital.
Authorities said the other vehicle was eastbound on McCarty Road and struck the first vehicle in the driver's side door. Officers said the female driver of the second vehicle did not have noticeable injuries.
Saginaw Township Police Chief Donald Pussehl said the accident is still under investigation. In a news release, Pussehl said it appears that the vehicle on Hackett Road did not yield to the vehicle traveling on McCarty Road.
Pussehl told TV5 that the elderly woman is identified as Geraldine Falk, of Saginaw Township. The Saginaw News is reporting that her passenger was her daughter, Regina Falk. The driver of the other car is identified as Deborah Krzciok.
