The man charged in connection to the Mt. Pleasant stabbing incident, Todd Gerheiser
MOUNT PLEASANT, MI (WNEM) -
Michigan State Police troopers from the Mt. Pleasant post arrested a person over the weekend in connection to a stabbing that happened early Sunday morning.
Troopers were originally dispatched to the scene of a large fight at the Deerfield Apartment complex on E. Deerfield Road in Union Township.
Upon arrival, troopers said they observed a "wave" of people running towards them. Responding officers said one of the victims was covered in blood, and told the troopers that a man had just stabbed him. The victim pointed the suspect out as he, too, was running towards the troopers. The troopers said they ordered the man to the ground, where he was then secured.
During the course of the investigation, Troopers interviewed witnesses and victims identifying a 22-year-old man from Belding, Mich., as the perpetrator.
Authorities said troopers found the weapon and the suspect was lodged in the Isabella County Jail.
The Isabella County Prosecutors office issued an eight-count felony warrant, including two counts of assault with intend to murder, two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon. The man's bond was set at $800,000.
Later on Monday, Police identified the man charged with the stabbing as Todd Gerheiser. Authorities made no mention of the extent of the victim's stab wounds.
