FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced Wednesday that he helped secure $1.4 million for Bishop International Airport improvements through a discretionary grant awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The grant to Bishop Airport under the FAA Airport Improvement Program will rehabilitate the airport's aircraft parking apron.

"I am very pleased I was able to support the legislation authorizing this grant for Bishop Airport," said Kildee.  "This grant will make the airport safer, more efficient and bring jobs. Bishop Airport's past performance in using federal funds was an important factor in the decision to award this grant."

The Airport Improvement Program funds projects that are vital to maintaining the safety, capacity, and environmental stewardship of our nation's airports.

"Bishop Airport is a vital link in the region's transportation infrastructure and provides an important foundation for our local economy," said Kildee.
