SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -
Potential jurors sat through individual questioning as the trial for Ken Bluew got under way on Wednesday.
Bluew is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jenny Webb. Police said she was eight months pregnant with his child when her body was found in August, 2011.
The court brought in a pool of about 40 potential jurors Wednesday morning. Prosecutor Mike Thomas also said he has additional groups of potential jurors for consideration.
The judge asked how many people had prior knowledge of the case, a majority knew something about it. Potential jurors without knowledge of the case were asked to come back the next day.
Members of the media were not allowed in court during individual questioning.
Bluew's attorney filed a change of venue request during a motion hearing in July. At that hearing the judge said he was confident they could seat a jury in Saginaw County. The defense has also expressed concern regarding all the attention and media reports surrounding this case.
Thomas said he cannot comment on how many potential jurors may be called.
