Residents clamor for changes to major township intersection

Posted: Updated:
SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

Some residents in Saginaw Township are taking matters into their own hands after a dangerous accident happened at a major intersection in the area.

People living near the intersection of McCarty and Hackett roads say something needs to be done very quickly to fix the crossing. A wall of trees blocks certain angles that make it difficult for drivers to navigate the intersection.

Last week, an 81-year-old woman was struck and killed in her car while she tried to cross over McCarty road. Saginaw Township told TV5 they are aware of the danger.

"The township manager's office has told us that they are contacting the County Road Commission and asking for some research into a possible change in that area," said a resident living near the intersection.

WNEM TV5 will be talking with the Saginaw Township manager tonight and asking him The Tough Questions - look for that story today on TV5 News at 5 p.m.
