HURON COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Crews with respirators and safety suits were called in after a search of a Huron County home discovered what appeared to be a drug manufacturing site.

The Huron County Sheriff's Department and Bad Axe Police Department called in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency this weekend after large amounts of acetone, butane, caffeine anhydrous and other unknown chemicals were found in the home on Beech Street in the city of Bad Axe. Large amounts of what appeared to be the drug known as bath salts were also taken from the scene.

A search warrant was served simultaneously at the Maple Lane Discount Store on Van Dyke Street in Bad Axe. Records, packaging, and manufacturing materials, among other things, were taken from the business.

A 47-year-old Bad Axe man has been arrested in connection with the investigation, and is expected to be arraigned sometime this afternoon on drug-related charges.
