TRAFFIC ALERT: I-75 Closure tonight

Posted: Updated:

Tonight, I-75 road repair work is scheduled along 4 miles on I-75 from Janes Road to just past the I-675 north junction and complete bridge replacement on Janes Road over I-75.

The work will take place on a stretch of highway in Buena Vista Township and in Saginaw County.

Bridge work includes complete removal and replacement, drainage safety and ramp improvements, joint sealing, painting, repairs beneath the bridge, and surface coating.

Work is expected to be completed by early April 2013.

Daytime single-lane and nighttime double-lane closures will be in effect on I-75 starting Monday at 7 p.m.

To safely remove the Janes Road bridge, northbound I-75 at the I-675 south junction will be closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Oct. 1 to Oct. 2.

To safely remove the west pier of the Janes Road bridge, the southbound I-675 ramp to southbound I-75 will be closed from Oct.2 to Oct.4. Motorists traveling on southbound I-675 will be rerouted to northbound I-75, where they will take the M-81 exit to southbound I-75.

Short-duration nighttime lane closures will be in effect on northbound and southbound I-75 while crews are setting bridge beams. MDOT will announce these closures as they are scheduled.

Janes Road will be closed with traffic detoured.

Motorists traveling on Janes Road will be rerouted to Outer Drive, where they can take Wadsworth Avenue to Towerline Road.

This $29 million project is said to increase safety by improving the overall condition of the road and bridge.
