FLINT, MI (WNEM) -
One local city is trying to keep kids off the streets.
The former Lawndale Elementary school building in Flint is now home to the non profit group called "Champions".
Kids caught skipping school will be brought there.
The Center will work to help get them back on track and keep them in school.
It will offer help from tutors and social services representatives.
Council member Sheldon Neeley will also enforce the daytime curfew, which is between 9 AM and 2 PM.
Neeley says an anti truancy task force is going to round up children roaming the streets to promote better behaviors.
