Anti violence summit coming to area

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Another local city is helping to keep youth on the right path.

Judge M.T. Thompson is heading up a month long anti violence, anti gang campaign in Saginaw.

Thompson says a lot of the crime on the streets are gangs fighting over turf.

But he along with other law enforcement officials are hoping to put an end to that trend.

A summit is set for 10 AM Saturday at the Dow Event Center.

The free event will feature presenters who will update those in attendance about the state of violence in the area.

The Saginaw County Police Chiefs Association along with the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity will visit area schools in October to talk with students about the violence.
