Fifth Michigan resident dies in meningitis outbreak

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Health officials report a fifth Michigan resident has died from the fungal meningitis outbreak.

The latest victim was a 62 year old Washtenaw County man.

There are now 45 Michigan cases of fungal meningitis reported, and four non meningitis infection cases related to the same contaminated steroids.

A steroid made by a Massachusetts pharmacy is tied to the national outbreak.
