Warm front brings temps reaching into mid-70s

SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A warm front lifted northward through mid-Michigan yesterday, which allowed Wednesday temps to warm into the mid 70s.

We do have a cold front on the way, but it will not move through until tonight so we will still have the warm air mass in place for today. Add to that strong winds out of the south today, and we will have even warmer temperatures than yesterday.

The record high in Saginaw for today is 77, and we will certainly have a chance to tie or break that record. The record high in Flint is 81 – this will be a little harder to reach, so I think Saginaw has the best chance to reach record temps today.

The cold front will move through overnight, and we will see a huge difference in weather between today and tomorrow. The cold front will bring showers overnight and Friday, and also much cooler temperatures.

Friday highs will only be in the mid 50s, which will be a 20-25 degree temperature drop! Friday night lows will drop near the freezing point, so fall is really making a come-back tomorrow.

Something else to add to the mix is Hurricane Sandy. As of Thursday morning, it is a category 2 hurricane located just north of Cuba, and moving north at around 16mph. It is still too far away to nail down the track as it moves toward the East Coast, but some models are hinting that it could impact our area by bringing rainy and windy conditions around Halloween.
