Elderly man shot in Flint dies

FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

A 92-year-old Flint man is dead from a gunshot wound. Police said Iris Gardner was shot Tuesday afternoon while answering his side door.

Police responded to a home on Race Street between Myrtle Street and Sonny Avenue in Flint. The shooting happened in the middle of the afternoon around 2:30 p.m.

Gardner lived at the home with his daughter and two granddaughters, one of the grandkids was home at the time. She was not injured.

Medics transported the man to Hurley Hospital for surgery. He was listed in critical condition, but has since passed away from his injuries.

Investigators do not have any suspects at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-422-JAIL.

The man is now Flint's oldest homicide victim this year.
