SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

The Saginaw Railway Museum at 900 Maple in Saginaw will celebrate National Model Railroad Month with its last open house of the year Saturday.

The museum will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are asked. Anyone who makes a $20 donation will receive a one-year individual membership.

Among the features are a switch engine from Carrollton, a locomotive formerly used at the Karn-Weadock plant in Essexville, photo displays of "then and now" railroad photos from Saginaw and former railroad depots in Saginaw. Also, there is a large HOScale model railroad layout in the basement, loosely based on the Tri-City area post WWII.

The Saginaw Railway Museum is housed in the former Hemlock depot, which was built in 1907, closed in 1976 and moved to Saginaw in 1983.
