A man is behind bars after being accused in the brutal beating of a 3-year-old child in Flint.
The Genesee County Sheriff's office says Robert Martin is in custody in connection to the beating.
Right now that child is recovering at Hurley Medical Center. It's not clear if Martin is related to the child.
Prosecutors say the abuse happened last week at a home on Baltimore Street.
Emergency workers said that when they arrived at the home, the child was barely breathing.
They said he had visible bruises on his face and neck.
Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said doctors who treated the boy said it's one of the worst cases of child abuse they have ever seen.
Officials are still looking over the case.
