Spirit drop road decision to Whalers

PLYMOUTH, MI (WNEM) -

It was an election day matinee at the Compuware Arena as the Saginaw Spirit fell to the Plymouth Whalers by a score of 4-1.

Plymouth commenced the scoring at 7:50 of the opening stanza, with Stefan Noesen netting his 9th goal of the season.

Just 16 seconds later the Spirit tied the game as Garret Ross scored his 10th goal of the year as Vincent Trochek and Dalton Young earned the assists.

With under four minutes remaining in period number one, the home team took the lead for good as Rickard Rakell scored.

After a scoreless second period, the Whalers struck for the final pair of goals with Matt Mistele scoring at 7:30 and at the 10:14 mark, Noesen scored his second goal of the game as Plymouth was on the power play to complete the scoring.

Jake Patterson stopped 35 shots in the defeat.

The Spirit travel to Ottawa on Friday night to face the 67's.

Face off time is at 7:30 pm.
