MID-MICHIGAN (WNEM) -
Quarterfinal action gets under way Friday and Saturday in the MHSAA football playoffs, and a number of local teams are still alive in the quest to Ford Field in Detroit.
In Division 2, Midland will host Muskegon Saturday at 1 p.m. in a battle of traditional powers.
St. Johns travels to DeWitt in a Division 3 match-up Friday at 7 p.m.
Two area teams are still alive in Division 4, with Ogemaw Heights traveling to Comstock Park Saturday at 1 p.m. Saginaw Swan Valley heads to the Thumb to take on Croswell-Lexington on Friday at 7 p.m.
In Division 5, traditional power Clare will head to the U.P. to take on Menominee at 2 p.m. Saturday, while Flint Powers plays host to Portland Friday at 7 p.m.
Division 6 features a huge game as Montrose travels to Ithaca Friday at 7 p.m.
In Division 7 play Friday, Flint Beecher heads to Saginaw Nouvel at 7 p.m.
Two area teams continue play in Division 8, as Beal City hosts Johannesburg-Lewiston Friday at 7 p.m. Harbor Beach hosts Waterford Our Lady on Saturday at 1 p.m.
All winners will head to the semifinals next week.
