Clare house deemed total loss after fire

CLARE, MI (WNEM) -

The Clare Fire Department responded to a house fire behind the Whitehouse Restaurant. When firefighters arrived they could see smoke and flames coming from inside the building.

The fire department responded just before 4 a.m. on Saturday. According to the department the fire spread throughout the structure and officials believe it is a total loss.

The fire chief said the house was also used as a business. It was located on North McEwan Street in the City of Clare.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Other nearby structures were not damaged as a result of the fire.
