BEAVERTON, MI (WNEM) -
New details in a story involving 60-year-old James Emery Junior, a former math teacher at Beaverton High School, who is accused of taking at least one photo of a partially clothed 17-year-old former female student.
The Gladwin County Record reports prosecutors struck a deal with Emery calling for nine months in jail.
A judge rejected that deal, saying Emery's crime is a felony that carries up to 20 years in prison. Emery's attorney then withdrew the plea.
The case is back in District Court. The Beaverton School Board will hold a meeting tonight at 7 p.m. and the matter is expected to come up. A TV5 viewer told us many people in Beaverton are upset over the possible plea agreement.
