MOUNT PLEASANT, MI (AP) -
Central Michigan University announced Monday that it received a resignation letter, effective immediately, from the professor accused of possessing child pornography on a work computer.
The school announced Thursday that it has suspended the professor and barred him from the campus in Mount Pleasant pending the results of an investigation by law enforcement.
CMU Police Chief Bill Yeagley confirmed to TV5 that the 58-year-old professor was accused Nov. 5 of being in possession of child pornography on a work computer. CMU police then began an investigation into the allegations.
The professor has not been formally charged, but the university said it is cooperating fully with legal authorities, including the Isabella County prosecuting attorney.
