
A number of local teams have advanced to the semifinals of the MHSAA football tournament.
In Division 2, Midland High's dream dies when they were beaten by Muskegon 49-21.
In Division 3, St. John's was beaten by DeWitt 29-27.
Saginaw Swan Valley advanced to the semifinal in Division 4 after knocking off Croswell-Lexington 35-13. The Vikings now play Detroit Country Day at Ortonville-Brandon High School on Saturday at 1 p.m.
No teams from our area advanced in Division 5, as Clare and Flint Powers both went down to defeat.
Ithaca remains alive in Division 6 after trouncing Montrose 31-0. The Yellowjackets will play Shelby, Saturday at 1 p.m. on the campus of Ferris State University.
Flint Beecher carries the area torch in Division 7 as they advanced past Saginaw Nouvel 19-15. The Bucs will take on Detroit Loyola at Fenton High School, Saturday at 1 p.m.
Two local teams continue in Division 8 as Beal City will play St. Ignace LaSalle, while Harbor Beach plays Muskegon Catholic Central.
