Saginaw Christmas tree lighting scheduled for Friday

     Get ready for one of Saginaw's most popular events.  This Friday at 6pm, organizers from the civic group known as Pride In Saginaw will light the city's official Christmas tree in a ceremony at Saginaw's water treatment plan.  

     The lighting ceremony, scheduled for 6pm, is just part of a full plate of activities scheduled for Friday.  The festivities begin 5:30pm with horse drawn carriage rides, a cookie house competition at the Anderson Enrichment Center, a holiday-themed farmer's market and an appearance from Santa and Mrs. Claus.  Other activities Friday night include:

  • Free Holiday Concert at St. John's Episcopal Church - Michigan Avenue - 6PM -Free Holiday Concert at Holy Family Church - Washington Avenue - 7:15PM (Donations of New Hats, Mittens and Scarves accepted at each concert for those in need.)
  • Hot Chocolate & Entertainment at Holy Cross Lutheran Church
  • Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Gazebo in Old Saginaw City
  • Free Pony Rides in Borchard Park
  • 1,200 luminaries
  • Food Vendors on the street
  • Fireworks! at 8:30pm from Ojibway Island

     Pride in Saginaw organizes several popular events in Sagainaw each year including the popular Friday Night Live summer concert series in Morley Square.
