Albee Township residents seeing red over proposed purchase

ALBEE TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

A fight for the purchase of a fire truck in one local community hasn't cooled down, despite voters turning down the idea during last week's election.

Dozens of concerned residents packed the Albee Township Hall in southern Saginaw County on Tuesday night.

They were there to find out if anything could be done about a faulty pump truck still in use.

A millage to fund a new truck was on last week's ballot, but it was turned down.

Firefighters say the truck currently in use is more than 30 years old and is dangerous.

The Township supervisor says, for the time being, this is a non-issue due to lack of funding.

It could be six months before the board addresses it again.
