SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -
"Holidays in the Heart of the City" events are getting under way in Saginaw.
It begins Friday at 5:30 p.m. with a lighting ceremony, followed by free activities for the family until 8 p.m.
On Saturday, the Christmas parade starts at 11 a.m. and will go through Downtown Saginaw.
Here are a few things set to take place:
- City Lighting Ceremonies at 5:45pm Water Treatment Plant
- Free Horse Drawn Wagon Rides
- The Cookie House Competition at the Andersen Enrichment Center
- Downtown Saginaw Farmers' Market "Holiday Market" at the Andersen Enrichment Center
- Visit Saginaw Co. Veterans Memorial Plaza and Friends of Hoyt Park
- Free Holiday Concert at St. John's Episcopal Church - Michigan Avenue - 6PM -Free Holiday Concert at Holy Family Church - Washington Avenue - 7:15PM (Donations of New Hats, Mittens and Scarves accepted at each concert for those in need.)
- Hot Chocolate & Entertainment at Holy Cross Lutheran Church
- Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Gazebo in Old Saginaw City
- Free Pony Rides in Borchard Park
- 1,200 luminaries
- Food Vendors on the street
- Fireworks! at 8:30pm from Ojibway Island
