Thomas Delane-Larue Hayter
Investigators in Mount Pleasant say they have made an arrest in the case of more than four dozen larcenies plaguing the area.
Police said 19-year-old Thomas Delane-Larue Hayter swiped electronics, cash and prescription drugs from dozens of vehicles over the past month.
Hayter was first spotted as a potential suspect when authorities tied him to three larcenies on Central Michigan University's campus. Police have now charged Hayter in three of eight larcenies that occurred within the last 30 days.
Investigators said in most cases the valuables that were taken were left in plain sight. Authorities said Hayter told them he tried to avoid stealing electronics and instead sought out money and prescription drugs, which he could sell later.
Police told TV5's Gino Vicci that Hayter admitted to breaking into more than 30 cars in a single night.
Police did not indicate whether Hayter worked alone while committing the crimes.
