BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

Eastbound M-25 or Thomas Street has reopened to traffic in Bay City after a fire closed the roadway Monday morning.

Bay City fire crews responded to the fire at the intersection of South Mountain Street and Thomas Street.

That's about two blocks east of Euclid Avenue on Bay City's west side.

The fire started in the upstairs of the home just before 5 a.m.

A mother and her child were home at the time of the fire but they were able to make it out of the structure unharmed.
