New research indicated that Oregon grape root can be used to treat the skin condition psoriasis. Likewise Skincare reacts to the findings.
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) November 26, 2012
On November 26, Likewise Skincare releases a reaction statement to an article published by Natural News about the use of Oregon grape root in treating psoriasis.
Psoriasis is a skin condition that results in itchy, scaly skin. According to new findings, this condition can be treated with a chemical found in Oregon grape root, or Mahonia aquifolium, which “is a tall, flowering shrub that grows in abundance in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States,” reports Natural News.
The article went on to state that a chemical called berberine – which is found inside the plant – can be applied to the skin in order to treat the symptoms of psoriasis.
According to the article, treatment is easy and can actually be used in the form of a tea or tincture as well. The article added that Oregon grape root can also be used to treat “constipation, bloating, and other intestinal issues.”
Lisa Shariat, a representative for Likewise Skincare, commented on the findings. “This is a very exciting, natural way to treat psoriasis,” Shariat said. “Daily skin care is a very important factor when treating any skin condition, and I’m glad that those affected by psoriasis have another way to help treat their condition. In the meantime, dry skin suffers should use hydrating moisturizers to soothe their itchy complexions.”
Likewise Skincare was founded by board certified dermatologist and President of Likewise, Inc., Dr. Julie Pena. Likewise daily moisturizers are all-in-one but not one-fits-all.
