Leading provider of therapeutic programs for troubled youth contributes expertise to new show aimed at helping parents

CUPERTINO, Calif. (PRWEB) November 26, 2012

Aspen Education Group, the leading provider of therapeutic education programs for struggling teens, has announced sponsorship of The Mary Waldon Show on VoiceAmerica, the largest producer of original live Internet talk radio programming in the world with nearly four million monthly listeners.

The Mary Waldon Show began last month and runs through the end of January 2013. The show is aimed at enriching the country’s mental health conversation, specifically among young women and their parents. Waldon, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and special guests including mental health professionals, authors, and academics discuss how this nation’s highly pressurized, social media-intense society can raise strong, self-aware, self-empowered young women, as well as how to best address the increase in depression, self-harm, eating disorders, and the decline in self-worth.

In addition to being selected as the main sponsor of the show, Aspen Education Group is represented with expert interviews including one that aired on November 6th that included Stevie Stanford, PhD, Clinical Director of Aspen’s Copper Canyon Academy private therapeutic boarding school for girls. A podcast of that show is available here, and covers the topics of adoption and attachment. In an upcoming show to air on November 27th, Sharelle Baldwin, PhD, Licensed Clinical Neuropsychologist and Program Director for Aspen Institute for Behavioral Assessment, will discuss adolescent clinical assessments and what parents should be asking.

Waldon is an expert on teen issues and has her own private practice, leads skills groups and develops staff trainings for social service agencies, middle schools, and high schools on the North Shore of Chicago. She specializes in change-oriented psychotherapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for teenagers, young adults and their families.

The Mary Waldon Show sponsored by Aspen Education Group airs every Tuesday morning at 7:00 am Pacific Time on VoiceAmerica’s Health & Wellness Channel. For more information or to listen live, go to http://www.voiceamerica.com/show/2142/the-mary-waldon-show.
