Cyber Monday isn't just good business for big box retailers across the country, some local businesses also see a spike thanks to online business today.
WNEM TV5's Craig McMorris went out to Bronner's Christmas Wonderland to find out how sales are at that Frankenmuth institution.
"Cyber Monday is huge, we see just an enormous in the number of sales we have through our catalog and our Internet," said Wayne Bronner, who admits he loves Cyber Monday. "This department today is probably going to put out over 5,000 packages."
Wayne Bronner's father, Wally, started the huge Christmas store in 1954.
Bronner thinks one reason cyber Monday is so big for his business is that people have shopped at the malls and stores over the past holiday weekend and if they didn't find what they wanted, they jump online. Bronner says Internet sales are something he never envisioned a couple of decades ago.
"We were a much, much smaller operation, but it stands to reason that if people in Toledo or Detroit like our merchandise, why wouldn't they like it out in Phoenix, Arizona or Miami, Florida?" said Bronner. "So that's the way to satisfy their needs, satisfy their curiosity for what Bronner's has to offer."
And folks don't just shop online for Bronner's merchandise; they were strumming to the tune of 55,000 people Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Bronner's.
TV5 asked some shoppers in the store Monday why they weren't making their selections online.
"We're here with friends on a holiday, so we, this is part of it, and Frankenmuth's the other part of it," said one person.
"I just love to touch and feel and see everything before I buy it," said a woman named Bonnie. "I've never bought online, so I'm one of the odd ones I guess."
"I don't like shopping online, I'd rather see things in person, handle them, it's a better way to shop," said another visitor from Ontario.
But Wayne Bronner is glad thousands of people also like to buy his products online during Cyber Monday. "We're very happy," said Bronner. "It's 29 days until Christmas and people are ordering accordingly."
Bronner's will hire about 750 employees during the Christmas season, thanks in part to people ordering online.
