Young boy battling cancer passes away

Posted: Updated:

Jayden Lamb, the 8-year-old boy who has been battling cancer, has passed away.

WNEM previously brought you the story about how Jayden has been fighting for his life, and his family had been hoping for a miracle.

The Facebook page called Keep on Truckin': Team Jayden reported Jayden passed away at 11:02 p.m. Tuesday night.

Jayden's classmates, friends and family encouraged people in Midland County to light up their homes with Christmas lights in Jayden's honor.

"Jayden has always been a Christmas guy; he just loved Christmas," said Tom Lamb, Jayden's dad.

Two of Jayden's classmates at Pine River Elementary had an idea to give their friend an early Christmas gift. Third graders Rita Gorsuch and McKenna Long went door to door asking neighbors to put up their lights.

Jayden was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer during the summer of 2010.

Many people have been sharing their condolences on the WNEM Facebook page including Mary Riley Jones, who writes "My prayers go out to his family.  He is in a better place now with no pain and suffering.  Now he is with our Good Lord, running and playing and enjoying Christmas with Jesus."

Heather Edsall writes "Rest in peace Jayden.  My deepest sympathy and prayers are with the family.  God be with all of you."

Charmaine Klimmek writes "Our prayers for this little angel's family, may his light shine brightly from his family this holiday season.  R.I.P. Jayden!"
