The public is invited to attend a spaghetti dinner to benefit Carter Janowicz, a 7-year-old, Bay City boy who was born with a serious, genetic disorder called Tuberous Sclerosis Complex.
ThTSC is an incurable affliction that causes tumors on major bodily organs and can cause developmental delay, intellectual disability, autism and epilepsy.
Carter was first diagnosed with TSC when he began to have seizures as an infant. He has undergone numerous hospital visits throughout Michigan, including inpatient testing and monitoring for 72-hour stretches, and many medications. Carter has over 20 tumors on his brain, 3 on his heart, and 3 on his kidneys.
In January 2013, Carter will undergo a two-part surgery at Children's Hospital of Michigan, in Detroit. A team of surgeons will remove the tumor on his brain that is active, in the hopes of stopping his seizures. With this surgery, we hope to give Carter a better quality of life, and that his hospital visits and tests will be minimized in the future.
Please mark your calendar to participate in this event!
The benefit is being held Saturday, Dec. 8 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the UAW Local 362 Hall at 4427 Wilder Rd. in Bay City. Cost is $7 for adults, $5 for children, and free to little ones (5 years & under). Spaghetti with salad, roll, dessert and beverage will be provided. Get there to insure a seat; we will serve patrons quickly to accommodate a high turnout of supporters for Carter. Carryout orders will also be available. We thank UAW Local 362 for graciously donating their facility.
If you would like to make a monetary donation, you may do so at any Chemical Bank c/o Carter Janowicz Benefit. Gift Donation Chair is Keri Janowicz-Kern, who can be contacted at 989-879-4372.
