Spirit fall to Attack

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Sunday afternoon before a crowd of 2,684 at the Dow Event Center,the Saginaw Spirit dropped a 4-3 shootout decision to the Owen Sound Attack.

The Spirit opened the scoring at the 7:11 mark of the first period as Jeremiah Addison scored his second goal of the season.

Saginaw headed to the second stanza with the lead but the Attack tied the game at 4:52 with Cameron Brace netting the equalizer.

The final period saw a scoring frenzy and it started with Owen Sound taking the lead at 6:31 as Zach Nastasiuk scored but just 78 seconds later the Spirit tied the game with Nick Moutrey adding his 8th goal of the season.

Saginaw regained the lead 59 seconds later as Vincent Trochek scored to give the Spirit a 3-2 lead, it was Trochek's 21st goal of the campaign.

But at 10:10 the guests tied the game at 3, as Joseph Blandisi scored.

The teams headed to overtime and could not decide a winner in the extra session.

In the shootout the Attack scored the only goal, to skate away with the victory.

Jake Patterson stopped 27 Attack shots for the game.

Saginaw hosts the Sarnia Sting Thursday evening at the Dow Event Center.
