The investigation continues into the brutal murder of a 45-year-old Saginaw woman.

Leigh Swanson was discovered shot and killed a week after going on a date with a man she met online.

That man, 30-year-old Steven Michael Fabi, the main suspect in the case, committed suicide before authorities could question him. Now they are still trying to piece together exactly what happened two weeks ago.

Midland County Sheriff's deputies are trying to determine exactly how the two knew each other and if Fabi acted alone in connection to her death. Authorities recently visited a person of interest in Gladwin County who they determined was not connected to the case.

The website MeetMe.com, which is where police think the two first met, stated Monday that "We are working closely with the Midland County Sheriff's department to assist in their investigation of this tragic accident."

Nielson said that he may discover what he wants to know about Fabi's online activities from Fabi's home computer. "I think the computers will give us more information than they're going to be able to," said Nielson. "I think that they only hold their records for a short time."

More questions could be answered soon as DNA testing on blood found in Fabi's home is due back, as are the toxicology reports on both Swanson and Fabi.

This is a timeline of events in Swanson's disappearance and murder:

Friday, Nov. 16 - Leigh Swanson's family says she is picked up from the Saginaw Area for a date.

Sunday, Nov. 18 - She calls her mother at around noon to say she will be home around 6:30 p.m. - Mom tells TV5 that she heard lots of voices in the background.

Monday, Nov. 19 - The family of Leigh Swanson reports her missing to the Saginaw Township Police Department. They provide the phone number that Leigh Swanson called home from.

Tuesday, Nov. 27 - TV5 interviews the family of Leigh Swanson. Leigh's cousin Donna Johnson calls the Midland County Sheriff's Department and hands over that number from her mother's caller ID. Investigators trace the number to a home to the 5100 block of N Fox Road in Edenville Township.

Later on that day, deputies visit the home. They say, the man inside, 30-year-old Steven Michael Fabi shot and killed himself as deputies stepped out of their vehicles and walked up to the home.

Wednesday, Nov. 28 - Sheriff Nielson holds a press conference to announce the apparent suicide of Steven Michael Fabi - a man they wanted to question in connection to disappearance of Leigh Swanson.

Moments before the news conference started - investigators discover the body of Leigh Swanson in a wooded area across the street from the home where Fabi lived. Swanson died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Friday, Nov. 30 - The Midland County Sheriff's Department identify Steven Michael Fabi as the lead suspect in the death of 45-year-old Leigh Swanson.
